BC – Year two
by Miles Benson

Well it’s been two years since I’ve been working at Boston College…
Aside from all my living situation woes I couldn’t be happier. It is the primary thing in my life that is keeping me going strong.
Regretably there weren’t many “new” projects I was assigned to this past year, but I’ll show off what kept me busy.
If you are using an RSS reader, please go to actual post.
I finally got approval for my Google Maps project, so that is underway and will hopefully see the light of day this year.

I am still updating the homepage once a week. But I am hoping to add a little flair to it by adding some javascript animation for the homepage featured highlights and events.

One of my new bigger responsibility’s is taking over and over seeing the technical aspects of The Baldwins, which is an award ceremony that celebrates student filmmaking at Boston College.

This is a really interesting video piece I put together where the graduating classes of ‘58 and ‘68 of BC describe their college experiences.

I really like the way this audio slideshow came out. It’s audio of a theologian offering a personal reflection on the Georges Rouault exhibition at the McMullen’s Museum’s exhibition at BC.

This is a really cool audio slideshow I did about the award-winning undergraduate researchers and their reflections on what their projects taught them about their fields and about themselves.

Also, another giant responsibility that I have been blessed with is putting Boston College Magazine online.

I started developing a live search function into @BC and BCM, but I cannot show you because they are still in beta but below is an image of what it might look like.

In addition to all the other projects I work on, I have also decided our department and college would benefit from having a concisely written web style guide, which is something I’ve taken under my wing and have attempted to spearhead.
So that’s it. Not as many random projects as before but a lot of new responsibility which is very exciting. I said it before, and I’ll say it again…”GOD, I LOVE BEING A TUUURRTTLLLEE!!!”
*ahem*
I mean, I love Boston College, and I owe them my life and more. Thank you!
