Maui – Day five
by Miles Benson

Day five was interesting to say the least.
It started by us not being able to decide where we wanted to eat so we went back to Cafe Kihei, I got Yogurt and granola in a papaya with on of their signature cinnamon buns.
Then we thought it would be cool to see more of West Maui. So we drove the west Maui coast. Holy shit…wait until you see the pictures of this…craziest roads I’ve ever seen!
Then we got shave ice in this one cow town, somewhere between Kahakuloa and Wailuku. Seriously, this town consisted of possibly 20 houses.
So we kept driving hoping to find this trail we couldn’t find, so we decided to follow this book I bought, to a pyramid like monument in Kahului. Holy shit it was stupid. It was rocks. A pile of rocks that anyone could’ve formed. Directly in the middle of a highly populated very down trodden “Milford, MA-esque” town.
Stupid monument.
Anyway, the pay-off’s on Maui are always the best because we said fuck it. Let’s go all the way back to Makena and hike through dried lava to find a light house and monk seals.
haha It turns out, the pay-off’s aren’t always good in Maui. The lighthouse wasn’t a light house at all. It was a light beacon warning ships that there’s a cliff there. And there were no monk seals. But it sure was beautiful as hell…
