Worriment
by Miles Benson
If we float in the water and dont move our arms, our arms will never be strong enough for when the tidal wave comes and carries us away from shore.
I trust myself and I trust my strength to keep me close to shore.
But I am finding that I no longer trust my friend to keep himself afloat and close to shore.
He see’s a mermaid and a deserted island full of treasure, rum, and relaxation. An island in which I am not physically ready to make the swim to.
I sense a great shift in wind on this ocean,
…and where once I thought my friend and I were stronger than nature. I am only finding that nature has begun to lock our legs and is trying to drown it’s rival equivalent.
I have never been fond of drowning…
…if I have no legs to kick, I have faith in my arms in which to swim.
The world is trying to make me my greatest ally…by drowning my friend.
